hello

Did you think that I fell off the face of the earth while following the Lifeforce Plan?  Well let me tell you I about did because boy was that tough!

Alright, so I'll fess up.  I really only made it about 10 days.  I thought the cravings were supposed to subside, but instead they only got worse.  So I caved.  Only for a day or two and then I jumped back on the wagon only this time following the 80/20 plan.  80% of the time I'm healthy, eat what I should and then 20% of the time I fall off the wagon a little bit.  Like when we went to my friend's sons birthday party.  I ate good the entire day until we got to the party and they had the most delicious cupcakes there.  AMAZING!  So of course I had to try them....and a little cake too!  But then I jumped right back on the plan.  I have to say I have been feeling a lot better.  Still pretty tired, but better.  Amazing what eating the right foods will do for your body!

Enough about that I'm sure you are all looking for house updates.  The reason for my absense these past few weeks has been because things were completely boring at the house.  The only thing that we have been working on is electrical.  I didn't think you wanted daily updates about what outlet was going where so I decided to spare the details and just wait until it was over.  So now the upstairs lights/outlets/switches are all in and the drywall will hopefully be starting next week!!!!!  I have about 1000 pictures on my camera, and that is not an exaggeration, so I will be posting more after the weekend.  I have prom updos at the salon this weekend.  Get this weekend out of the way and it will be smooth sailing for awhile!

the lifeforce plan

I have been doing tons of reading lately.  Most of the books I have been reading have to do with nutrition/health/fitness.  I've read quite a few interesting ones, but one of my favorites was The Lifeforce Plan.

It is basically a book that outlines a cleanse you can do to reset your body and clean your system out.  I have been feeling a little sluggish, tired, and just not that great lately.  I also have been struggling with an inner ear infection for the past few months and just cannot get rid of it.  I am hoping this cleanse will help.  I'm sure stress has a lot to do with all of my problems, but I also think all of the garbage I have been eating also has something to do with it.  I decided to follow The Lifeforce Plan for at least 30 days and see if I noticed any difference.  It is normally an 8 week program and then you add foods back in gradually.  You also take about $600 worth of supplements.  I will not be doing this part, but will be supplementing a little bit.

So basically I can eat veggies, fruit, any meat/seafood (except pork), and brown rice.  I can use seasonings and olive oil.  That's it.  Go ahead, call me crazy, because I certainly think I am, but I am on a quest to feel great.  The thing I am going to miss the most?  Popcorn.  I am totally 100% addicted to popcorn.  You aren't supposed to have it until week 9.  So I'll play it by ear and see how I feel after 4 weeks.

I decided to start today and headed to the store to pick up chicken, fish, veggies and fruit.  I managed to wipe the drool from my mouth as I walked by the glazed donut holes and birthday cake oreos.  Seriously, the day I decide to start my cleanse they come out with birthday cake oreos?  Oh the luck.  It took about everything I had to walk past and not put any in my cart!  I have basically spent the first day hungry.  I wasn't that prepared today with food, so tomorrow will be better I'm sure.  I can tell I am lacking sugar today and coming off my sugar high isn't going to be fun these first couple of days.  But I'm going to try really hard to stick it out and see how I feel.  I'll keep you updated!

cut loose

I have the looooooongest week ever at the salon.  Probably not ever, but it is going to be a long week.  As in I could probably pack my bags and just move to the salon for the week.  The one thing I am really looking forward to when I get home is....

That's right!  I was so excited to see in my Netflix queue that I get Footloose!  It just came out and I thought for sure I would have to wait forever to see it, but nope it should be waiting at home when I get there and I have every intention of watching it tonight.  Whoo hoo!  I am a huge Julianne Hough fan and was totally bummed I didn't get to see it in the theater, but it is here now!

almost finished

Yesterday I posted that I was working on a small little project to make my life a little more organized.  This was a project I have been wanting to do for quite awhile, but just never took the time to do it.  I am a big list maker.  I have to make lists in order to clear my mind during the day.  Right now I am using just a regular notebook and I have to always flip through and try and find what I am looking for.  I always end up losing something I'm looking for.

For this project I started with this clearanced out notebook ($1.48) from Target.  I actually did a little digging and picked up two of them.  I thought I would try one out and if it worked, then tackle the other one.

I pulled out a little bit of leftover scrapbook paper from when I actually used to scrapbook.  I am hoping to jump back on that bandwagon someday.  Probably when we get moved and settled.  So yeah, five years down the line to scrapbook is looking hopeful.

Here is the (somewhat) finished product.

Doesn't look much different, right?  Until you open it that is.

So what I did was take the spiral out of the notebook.  I didn't do a picture of this because it really is simple.  Just ask my husband.....I had him do it!  No, but seriously it really was easy.  Just unhook the bottom with a needle nose pliers and spiral it out.  I then took the front page to use as my template.  I measured out a divider page out of scrapbooking paper.  I then used this punch.

I punched out divider tabs and attached them with a tape runner.  This first section is going to be my to-do list so I then skipped about 40 pages and inserted another divider page.  The second section is going to be for grocery/target lists.  I continued doing that for a total of five divider tabs.

Along with owning the salon I also make and sell custom stamped necklaces.  So the third section is for listing my orders.  I usually write these down on any old scrap of paper I can find and I end up losing them and having to look it up on the computer again.  It will be so nice to have one spot to put them all.  I tried to divide the pages out according to how much I thought I would use.  For instance, my to-do list area had the most paper.

When I got to the fourth tab I decided that this section would be for gift ideas.  After the divider page I decided to make a little envelope and insert it into the book just to hold on to gift receipts, since I have a terrible time holding onto these.

I'm really not sure what the last section is going to be used for yet.  I have a list of about 3 or 4 things it could be used for.  I did insert something kind of fun in this section too.  I had some little bags from my last event at the salon and decided to punch holes in it and insert it after the fifth divider page.   Oh and did I mention that all of the orange on this divider page feels fuzzy.  Neat huh?

I still need to label each section, but I'll get to that once I decide for sure which each section is going to be.  So basically I cut all of my divider pages out and lined up the holes from my template and punched away.  My husband then took the spiral and started spiraling it back into the book.  Back together as good as new...actually better than new!  The best part....I only spent $1.48 on the entire project.  That is my kind of organizer!  Next I will have to decide what I want to do with my second notebook.....

a little project

I feel like I'm finally starting to get my crafty side back.  There was one little project that I have been wanting to work on for quite awhile.  It really is a small project, but one that will help me get a little bit organized.  Here is what I'm starting with.

A clearanced out notebook from Target that actually turned out to be $1.48 when I got to the checkout.  Score!

I'm also going to be using a little leftover scrapbooking paper.

I'll show you the finished project tomorrow!
